JUST IN: German Tourist Dies in Kabale-Mbarara Highway Accident


KABALE – At least one tourist lost their life whereas two others sustained injuries in a tragic road accident on the Kabale-Mbarara highway in Kabale District.

The deceased has been identified as
DR Wendsche Ralf Steffen (58) a Deutsch by tribe a tourist from German whereas the Victims are Silk Venus ( 48) a tourist from German, and Nyombi Morgan (60) a muganda by tribe and a resident of Murungu Munyonyo Kampala district, the driver of Kibo slopes Uganda limited.

The incident occurred today around 09:00 AM at Kabaraga village, Kyanamira sub-county.

The accident involved a tourist vehicle, UAX 567C Toyota Land Cruiser, en route from Bwindi Gorilla Valley to Kampala that collided with a speeding Fuso lorry with the registration number UBH009B trying to overtake another unidentified vehicle at Kabaraga corner.

Unfortunately, DR Wendsche Ralf Steffen lost his life, and Silk Venus and Nyombi Morgan suffered critical injuries.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, reported that ACP Saiga Ibrahim, assisted by RTO SP Betubiza Fabian and ASP Mucunguzi DTO Kabale, visited and documented the scene.

The injured victims were swiftly transported to Kabale Referral Hospital for treatment, and the deceased’s body was taken to the hospital mortuary for postmortem.

The involved vehicles are currently at Kabale Police Station, awaiting inspection.
