Kabale Parish Chief Arrested Over Corruption and Violation of PDM Guidelines

KABALE – The Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Kabale, Ronald Bakak, has ordered for the arrest of Hillary Muhwezi, the Parish Chief of Kitooma Parish in Rubaya sub-county, Ndorwa West County of Kabale district over corruption and violation of Parish Development Model (PDM) guidelines.

In an interview with our reporter at his office in Kabale district within Kabale municipality, Bakak disclosed that Muhwezi had been implicated by Kitooma parish residents for allegedly extorting money from them, promising inclusion in the list of PDM beneficiaries a direct contravention of established guidelines.

Bakak elaborated, stating that Muhwezi had allegedly taken no less than seventy thousand shillings (70,000) from each of the sixteen enterprise groups.

Furthermore, Muhwezi reportedly disregarded advice from his Chief Development Officer (CDO), Sub-county officials, and the Kabale District Commercial Officer. Instead, he unilaterally altered the PDM system for selecting beneficiaries, personally handpicking individuals.

Confirming that Muhwezi admitted to all accusations leveled against him, Bakak ordered his immediate arrest. He emphasized that ongoing investigations seek to uncover the details of fund disbursement within the Parish Development Model in Kitooma parish.
