KAMPALA – On Monday afternoon, the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, in collaboration with Kira Police Station, brought six individuals before the KCCA Chief Magistrate’s Court. They face charges of Aggravated Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit a Felony.

Last Friday night, the suspects were apprehended after forcibly entering the partially demolished family home of the late Eng. Johnson Eliba Orech. Armed with machetes, they violently attacked and robbed a family member of his phone and money, despite lacking any court orders.

The family home had been illegally demolished without a court order following a previous attack on December 26, 2022, orchestrated by individuals acting on Yusuf Ssemakula’s instructions.

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit investigated the incident, and the status quo was to be maintained until court cases determining property ownership concluded.

In response to a distress call, officers at Kira Police Station swiftly arrested the six suspects, who claimed they were sent by Yusuf Ssemakula. Ssemakula has been implicated in several similar cases of illegal evictions reported to the unit.

The suspects, namely Lukwago Julius, Kato Hussein, Okello Peter, Katerega Umar, Ochen Hussein, and Bahati Godfrey, have been remanded until 01/02/2024.
