KABALE-The presidential Advisor in charge of special operations Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has confirmed his presence in Kigezi sub region ahead of Katuna/ Gatuna border reopening thanksgiving.
According to the head of mobilization Team MK Project a National Forum that brings together all groups of volunteers involved in popularizing the First son and Presidential Advisor on Special operations, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba who is also rumored to be nursing ambitions of contesting as Uganda’s President in the near future in Kigezi sub region, Nelson Nshangabasheija who doubles as the LCV Chairman, Kabale district, the General himself has confirmed his presence on 19th April 2023 and preparation to colorfully receive him has commenced today.
While speaking at the commissioning ceremony for Kigezi sub-region Coordinators held at Bunyonyi Safaris resort in Kabale District in February this Year, Ms Moreen Namanya, the Kabale District Team Chairman MK Project Chairperson told Mr. Micheal Nuwagira alias Toyota that they had written to Gen. Muhoozi requesting him to visit Kigezi sub region several months ago, but the General was yet to respond.
Ms Namanya said that the chief reason for inviting Muhoozi was to thank him for negotiating the re-opening of Uganda – Rwanda Border at Katuna, which had been closed for a long time until the General intervened.
Recently, the General announced his plan to Visit Kigezi and officiate at the event prepared to celebrate re-opening of the Uganda-Rwanda border at Katuna, which was blocked by the Kigali Government for close to three years beginning 2019.
Gen. Kainerugaba’s announcement on twitter followed a series of requests by his supporters in Kigezi to be the Chief Guest at the function that have been postponed several times due to adjustments in his program schedules. However, in one of his recent tweets, Gen. Kainerugaba announced that President Yoweri Museveni and his Rwandan Counterpart Paul Kagame had given blessings to the Katuna Border re-opening party, adding that the theme of the celebration would be “Rukundo Egumeho,” A Rukiga phrase translated as, “Keep the Love”
Nshangabasheija while addressing Journalists at Kabale district local government headquarters confirmed that Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba will be in Kigezi Sub region on 19th April 2023.
Nshangabasheija in the same presser launched the kick start of a couple of activities that are expected to be done during the Visit of the first son.
According to Nshangabasheija, the visit will involve Visiting the Katuna/ Gatuna border in Kabale district and Kyanika border in Kisoro district, Marathon, cultural dances and sports among others.
He asked structures of Team MK project from village level to district level to work together towards having a colorful day
